This piece describes the beauty and joy of the simple bucket bath. After reading an article titled "Ode to Bucket Baths" by Mugabi Byenka, he describes the comforting experience and subsequently helped me reminisce on my own childhood and the importance of this simple ritual.

This piece describes the simple and joyous nature of being carried by a maternal figure in your youth. To be carried and lifted by your family is something that should never leave you no matter what age, their love and support should be universal and continue as you grow and change.

“Petroleum Jelly”

Inspired by the famous Vaseline advert, Petroleum jelly holds a special place in my heart as it transports me back to my parents using the cream on myself and my siblings. The maternal love is showcased through its nurture in applying the cream to the skin, even if it wasn't truly appreciated as a child.

“A Scoop of Stew?”

Painted to capture the heartbreaking betrayal of opening an ice cream tub for a sweet treat and in turn being met with the reddish tint of stew and meat - it’s a humorous reminder to not trust one’s parents.
